In March 2023 we installed the first Bike Parking 2.0 installation for SNCF, the French Railway.
In front of the prestigious location of Gare d’Austerlitz, you can now find the first European bicycle parking container with our unique solution towards bicycle parking.
There were several reasons why the SNCF choose Bike Parking 2.0.
The most important one was the ease of use.
Customers are often in a hurry to catch a train or they return home after a long working day and do not want to do any heavy lifting upon their return.
Some of the selection criteria used by SNCF:
- Durability – our installations from 2011 are still in use, without requiring maintenance.
- Small footprint – because of our patented Lifting Pillars, racks do not have to be pulled out and stay completely within the container.
- Number of parking slots – with Bike Parking 2.0, you can park 26-28 bicycles in one 20-foot container (5.8 meter).
- Quality – SNCF requires successful 1.000 hours salt spray tests (standard is 96 hours)
- Complete solution – this is where Nielsen Concept did an excellent job (see below).
This project was realized by Nielsen Concept, an innovative, front-running and prize-winning company that focuses on providing complete mobility solutions to local governments and companies in France and other European countries.
For the SNCF, Nielsen Concept developed a total solution that can easily be deployed at different locations. Benefits of the solution of Nielsen Concept are:
- makes use of standard sea container size and therefore easy to replace and transport,
- secure access for members with a choice of locks,
- use of solar panels to charge the locks and provide integrated lighting at night,
- 2-level parking with Bike Parking 2.0 that stays completely within the container.
