Choose the coating you want

Our Sliding Racks and Lifting Pillars are both made from an aluminium alloy. Most of our initial parking solutions for bicycles were made from heavy, powder-coated, steel (see picture below for some of these products), but our R & D showed that this aluminium alloy was the best solution for our patented Bike Parking 2.0.

Three of our initial solutions for parking of bicycles and scooters.

With the experience of the thousands of Bike Parking 2.0 installations that we have done since 2011, this was proven to be a good decision. Check out the video below to see one of the many installations that we did in 2012 for the national Japanese Railway (JR). Since then, JR has continued using Bike Parking 2.0, both for new locations as well as for replacement of traditional pull-out racks.

Materials

As mentioned, our racks are made from a special durable aluminium alloy. Our aluminium alloy has received an anodic oxidation treatment. With electrolytic oxidation, an oxide layer is created on an aluminium surface. This oxide layer is more than a hundred times denser than the naturally formed layer and increases resistance against corrosion and wear.

Our other iron parts are electroplated and receive a 96-hour Neutral Salt Spray Test before usage. Both visually and in daily use, these materials have not deteriorated during more than 10 years of outdoor usage.

Coating

Although we and our customers have seen no need to add an additional coating to our durable aluminium alloy, it is possible to add an additional layer to further increase protection or to have the racks provided in your preferred colour.

Because of the intense usage of our racks, we advise using a powder coating above wet paint as powder coatings provide a more permanent layer.

Qualicoat

If you decide for adding an extra layer, then we advise a Qualicoat-certified coating. Not only is Qualicoat the industry standard for aluminium coatings but Qualicoat-certified coating is added to our racks and pillars in an environmentally sustainable way.

Graffiti

The ability to remove graffiti remains a focal point of many public infrastructures. Although our customers are satisfied with the protection that our standard anodic oxidation treatment offers, we can imagine that you are looking for the easiest way to remove spray paint and marker pens.

If extra protection against graffiti is required, we also recommend our Qualicoat-certified coating as an additional layer. During tests, it was proven that with the Qualicoat-certified protection, all graffiti could be completely removed within 48 hours.

Do you want an additional coating? Then please ask for more details. Because the coating is added as part of the production process of the racks, it might influence the delivery time.
